It is now possible to apply for visas to Portugal via the Internet

To make life easier for foreign citizens, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs simplified the procedures for visa applications to Portugal. Foreign citizens can now complete the entire process via the Internet, on the new e-Visa platform, available in Portuguese, English, French, Ukrainian and Russian.

According to the press release provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) of Portugal, this week the e-VISA, the new platform of the said Ministry, aimed at simplifying the procedures related to visa applications, came into operation; with the introduction of e-VISA, visa applications and the sending of the necessary documents for the processing of the application will be made electronically, with the electronic payment of the administrative fee soon.

Visa applicants “receive a personal access code that allows online monitoring of the process, divided into four phases”, which are the registered application, under analysis, granted or rejected and, finally, the visa issued, with the evolution expected this platform for the possibility of paying the administrative fee.

The platform e-VISA it is one of the new features of the MNE's New Consular Management Model and continues the effort to digitize the entire document processing of visa applications. This measure contributes to the operationalization of the National Plan for the Implementation of the Global Pact on Migration (Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 141/2019, approved on August 20), it is also added in the statement on this new functionality, available on the Communities Portal and the Visa Portal.

For residents in Luanda, the process is still being done via VFS.
