[Mozambique] Young people distinguished in digital transformation

More than ten students, who stood out in training in digital transformation, were awarded by the Huawei, in recognition of the best results achieved during the training included in the project "Seeds for the Future".

55 young people selected from various regions of the country participated in the training, who after the training were graduated with the right to a certificate of skills in the areas of Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Commerce, 5G, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud Computing. They also had cultural interaction in the online format with colleagues from Armenia, Azerbaijan, China and Albania.

This is the fourth graduation promoted by the multinational Huawei Technologies Mozambique, a company of Chinese origin that works in the production and installation of digital technologies and mobile telephony.

The young people are students from 15 Mozambican universities studying Electronic Engineering, Computing and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), who applied for the “Seeds for the Future” project and underwent intensive training.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, who directed the graduation ceremony and awarding of prizes to the best students, said that the training allowed ICT talents to acquire skills, recognition of their skills and in digital education.

He also added that the development of human capabilities will accelerate the digital transformation of our country, towards the IV Industrial Revolution (Information Revolution).

Magala explained that the Transport and Communications sector decided to support the “Seeds for the Future” project as a valuable contribution in transforming minds, allowing digital education to be an experience for the transmission of knowledge in the field of ICT.

The official added that the inclusion of young people from different parts and cultures of Mozambique, allowed the acquisition of technical knowledge and show the world our cultural diversity in China, Albania and Azerbaijan, as well as bringing to the country the rich experiences of these countries in the areas of ICT.

In this graduation of 55 graduates, 40 students graduated this year, while 15 were trained during last year.

The Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique, Wang Hejun, explained at the event that the Chinese Government is developing a global initiative for data security and protection, promotion of connectivity, digital interaction and expansion of the digital economy.

Osvaldo Cumbucane, trained in Electronic Engineering at one of the Mozambican universities, said that the experience of this training was positive due to the subjects taught and cultural aspects obtained during interaction with other young people.

Cumbucane recommended young people to take hold of all training opportunities that appear on the market.

"It costs nothing to try, if you fall, get up and move on until you reach your dream.".

Another student is Henjamim Matsinhe, who said that the “Seeds for the Future” program allowed him to obtain basic knowledge related to ICTs and gained useful knowledge for his professional training.

"We had theoretical and practical classes on artificial intelligence, IoT, among others, we also had the opportunity to create solutions in the form of a project, in which each group identified a problem and created solutions for it".
