Mali becomes one of the first African countries to give visibility to its digital sector

A N-Soft delivered a new governance solution for mobile internet in Mali, enabling the country to increase transparency and oversight of its public policies. The test of the new solution was officially approved by experts from AMRTP, the regulatory authority for telecommunications, TICS and emails of the state of Mali and N-Soft.

With the implementation of these advanced digital governance solutions, the Republic of Mali emerges as one of the pioneering nations in Africa in increasing transparency and oversight of its policies. This development offers a significant advantage to financial institutions and global investors seeking clear visibility into specific sectors of the economy to make informed investment decisions and lend in a trusted business environment.

N-Soft has been managing mobile voice, SMS and mobile money in Mali since 2019. For example, they are responsible for overseeing $3 billion in mobile money transactions per month.

As a vote of confidence, N-Soft received an extension of the initial contract and now offers real-time visibility of the mobile data service in terms of volume (download/upload) and bandwidth per application (OTT, Web, streaming , etc.)

This service extension also aims to monitor the mobile Internet and calculate, in real time, the volume of use, the bandwidth generated by mobile applications for Androids, Apple, etc. to give visibility to the effective bandwidth.

“N-SOFT is very honored with the trust given to it by AMRTP, reaffirmed by the signing of this project. This project aims to provide Mali with an accurate regulatory tool, giving it complete visibility into the Internet volumes consumed by its citizens.

This is not about tracking how Malians use the Internet, but measuring the overall bandwidth used by the country, ranking OTT apps (e.g. WhatsApp, YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, etc.) based on their adoption by population and address a myriad of similar issues.

Mali is now among our privileged partners and we will continue to mobilize all our resources to provide him with complete visibility into his digital environment.” Explains Alex-Ariel Tchetgnia, vice president of services at N-Soft.

As N-Soft has been a Digital Sector Supervisor for over ten years, its governance solutions stand out in the GovTech sector for being proven and reliable. They can help any government fight the informal economy and tax evasion by providing full visibility into the mobile data sector.

N-Soft's solutions can also be used in sectors other than mobile telephony. In addition, they oversee pay TV, the gaming and betting sector, the import of cell phones, digital advertising, financial services and any other sector that forms part of the digital economy.

The transparency provided by N-Soft's tools can be used for transaction volume, as in the case of Mali, or for revenue mobilization, allowing governments to identify revenue leaks to maximize revenue mobilization. This thorough tracking ensures that governments can collect all the taxes they are owed.
