The participation of Angolan startups in the 2022 edition of the Web Summit was considered "excellent", based on the results achieved and established partnerships, according to the words of UNITEL's Innovation Manager, Henrique Costa.
Still on this path, national representatives in what is considered one of the largest and most important technology events in the world revealed that participation was a unique opportunity to project Angolan brands internationally due to the number of companies present.
The seventh of the Web Summit was attended by three national startups, namely Narisrec, cleantech provider of electronic waste management and marketing services, arotec and Kula Kids, winners of the last edition of UNITEL Go Challenge, by Unitel.
UNITEL GO Challenge is a Business contest Digitais open every year to Angolan entrepreneurs and developers as well as Angolans residing in the diaspora. In 2022 more than 220 projects were submitted to the competition, only 10 of which made it to the final and 3 of them convinced the Jury.
Although it is better known for its technological aspect, the Web Summit 2022 once again addressed topics such as the marketing and os medium, society and current times, commerce, lifestyle, and business development.
The event took place at the Altice Arena, in Lisbon (Portugal), and registered “71.033 participants from 160 countries” and tickets sold out earlier than ever, three weeks before the summit.
The industries most represented in 'startups' were 'software' services (SaaS), 'fintech', e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI) and advertising.
Of the 1.050 speakers, 34% were women – the same percentage as in 2021 -, says the organization, noting that more than 2.000 journalists will be present at the conference
This year, the Web Summit has speakers on four new stages: Book Summit, Verified, Crypto and Security Summit.
