How many people use the internet, mobile phone or computer in Angola?

Last week Eurasia Demba, Director of the National Institute of Statistics (INE) in Huambo province, presented the definitive results of the 2014 Census for her province.

Among the data presented the same stressed that in Huambo 30,5% of the population uses a mobile phone, 7,6% uses the computer and 8,9% has access to the Internet, with greater emphasis on the largest users being men.

But officially how many internet users are there in Angola?

During 2014, Angola had its first General Census of Population and Housing in Angola, aka Census 2014, which took place in the official period from 16 to 31 May 2014 and was carried out by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

From this census we learn that in Angola resided 25 789 024 inhabitants. Of these, according to the definitive results of the census, we found that:

  • 7 803 810 of inhabitants with 5 or older has access to mobile phone
  • 2 119 946 of inhabitants with 5 or older has access to internet
  • 2 060 989 of inhabitants with 5 or older has access to the computer

Percentage we are talking about 37,5% of the population uses mobile phones, 9,9% uses computers and 10,2% uses the internet. Below is a summary table with the percentages and indicators of the areas of residence and sex:
