Facebook, Whastapp and Instagram fall again

3322

If you were turning your network equipment on and off, thinking that something was wrong because you can't access Facebook, Whastapp and Instagram, then… the situation is worse. There's no problem with your provider, Facebook is down.

When we open the Down Detector (known for reporting the status of major online services) we see that problems are spread around the world. The crashes started at 16:22 (GMT+1) and continue until now.

There is still no official explanation from Facebook, but there are several theories circulating. One came from Cloudflare senior vice president Dane Knecht, who shared via twitter that Facebook's BGP protocol routes had been “taken off the Internet”. BGP helps networks choose the best way to deliver Internet traffic, so it's a very plausible explanation for this flaw.

Opening Instagram.com , a 5xx server error message appears, while Facebook.com reports that something went wrong.

There's still no news from Facebook about what might be causing the problem or when these sites, including Messenger and WhatsApp, will be operational again.

So, if you've been affected, don't despair… you can always use another social network to complain about the fall of the Facebook group, or simply wait a little longer.
