A Public Television of Angola (TPA) launched, this Monday, in Luanda, its channel TPA-Noticias, which will operate 24 hours a day.

The launch ceremony of the channel took place at the Camama Production Centre, with the presence of the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Manuel Homem.

Speaking at the event, Manuel Homem explained the importance of the new channel, its challenges and the aspect of training capable staff to keep the channel on the air, with the desired quality.

The minister also highlighted that these advances in the TPA are the result of the initiative of the President of the Republic, who three years ago authorized an investment of US$35 million for the modernization of infrastructures and the acquisition of technological equipment, for a better service to citizens.

"It is in this context of investment that TPA Notícias is being launched, with state-of-the-art technological means”, he informed.

BUT: TPA will undergo technological restructuring valued at 39,9 million euros

"They have to be able to make news that everyone understands, with a variety of talk and debate programs”, he said, adding that a high-level training plan for some TPA workers is underway. “The training and technical training program will continue until everyone has mastered the techniques, although a group has already gone through the Training Center for Journalists, Spain and Portugal for this purpose.”, stressed the Minister.

It was also revealed that TPA will in the future inaugurate channels specialized in Culture and Sport, to be included in Canal 2 and Palanca TV.
