A Unitel presented this Tuesday (06/12), the first commercial 5G service in Angola called “UNITEL Net Home,” which will provide unlimited high-speed internet for homes and which will allow a 50% discount on the family cell phone service.

With the UNITEL Net casa service, it will be possible to add up to two family telephone numbers, simply by sending an SMS to the number 19170 with the text “AD9xxxxxxxx”. The connection to UNITEL Net casa is via the 5G network, in most areas with coverage, or via fiber connection and the download speed, in both solutions, reaches up to 200 Mpbs.

Speaking to the press, after the public presentation of the residential internet service, called "Unitel Net Casa", Unitel's director of core and services, Júlio Gonçalves referred that the operator's agents will meet potential customers to offer and install the technological means in their homes, at no cost to users.

“Customers will not pay anything for access and installation of equipment in their homes, but they will pay for the services provided by 5G,” he said.

When the customer pays for one of the packages, UNITEL offers free installation and places the equipment to be used at the customer's residence, which will be owned by the operator. Below is the table of UNITEL Net Casa plans with the respective prices:

Areas with network coverage for UNITEL Net Casa: Baixa de Luanda, Talatona, Patriota, Mussulo, Futungo, Ilha de Luanda, CAOP, Nova Vida, Mártires, Vila Alice, Praia do Bispo, Nova Marginal, Jardim do Eden, Maianga, São Paulo, Sonils, Porto de Luanda, Kilamba, Sequel, Vida Pacifica, Quifica, Morro da Luz and Costa Sol.

It is recalled that in December 2021, UNITEL made the first 5G data call in Angola. The success of this call represented a significant milestone for the introduction of 5G in Angola, which is now commercially available.

One of the great benefits of the service is the option of monthly or weekly top-ups, on the other hand the ability for families to be able to use different devices simultaneously and with a balance in terms of cost, latency and speed.

To access this service, customers will be able to go to Unitel stores or through “door-to-door salespeople”, who will be in the 5G coverage areas.

  1. The article says that it is covered by Vida Pacifica, but the Unitel website says that it is not, so it is inconclusive whether the information in this article is correct.
