Unitel-appsA Unitel, the leading mobile operator in the Angolan market, elected on Wednesday 05 of October, the best applications created by Angolans in the scope of the competition “Unitel Apps Angola”, which was launched at 01 in August this year with the aim of promoting what is best done in the technology, innovation and development sector in Angola.

Tony Dalton, Unitel's general manager, in his opening message said he was pleased with the performance of the participants, encouraged all participants to continue to develop more applications for the national technology market, he asked those who did not win so they do not stop and that continue to innovate in the development of technology in the country.

The awards ceremony was held on Wednesday at the headquarters of Unitel, located in Talatona-Luanda, capital of Angola. Had as jurors: A Mrs. Mónica Casquiro: Mr. Juelson Bartolomeu and the Mr. Lukeny Louris. He presented the nine finalist projects of the contest, in three different categories: Apps, Social Responsibility and games.

Winner of the Apps category:

The duo formed by the creators Panzo Garcia e Luísa Pin, was the winner of this category. The pair developed an application called “Kafokolo Project”, based on personal micro-finance management. An application that aims to boost national users to manage their finances more, the application has three options are: Earnings Records, where the user can see all his financial gains; Record of Expenses that allows the user to notice all their financial expenses and lastly it is possible to find the option of saving, the application will accumulate all the savings.

Adilson Otávi, the big winner was the programmer developed a virtual dictionary called “Zwela ” which aims to translate into several national languages ​​such as: Kikongo, Kimbundo, Umbundo, etc. and in Portuguese, that is, the user can write a word in a national language and choose which language he wants to be translated into, it can be for example from Kikongo to Kimbundo, Kikongo to Portuguese and vice versa. the application also has the possibility for the user to suggest a word in a national language that is not in the application, if the user does not intend to write Zwela it has the option of audio that allows the user to say a word and the application to translate. According to the programmer, he is working to implement more foreign languages.

Winner of the Games category: 

The pair Rui Neto e Osvaldo Marreiros, was the winner of this category, the two developed a game based on Angolan music and the same is called Angola Voices. A game that has categories of musical styles, from Semba, Kuduro, Rap and Kizomba. The user should choose one of the categories and based on this will have questions where you can listen to a song for only thirty seconds and after that say the title of the same, there are still some options where if the user may not know the title in mind, choose a help that is the repetition of the song, choose that the application gives you the first letter of the title or even choose that the application eliminates the letters that are not part of the word with which to write the title of the song you are playing.

Juelson Bartolomeu one of the members of the jury, said at the end of the ceremony that Unitel will work with the winners to further improve the winning applications, then it will put them in the store selling apps Google, PlayStore and in the course of three months evaluate public acceptance. Each category received a prize of 500.000 Kzs, which will be converted into Unitel products.
