With the aim of promoting digital money in Angola, the mobile operator Africell and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), launched earlier this week the project “Digital money is better”, with an investment of approximately 10 million dollars.

According to what was revealed at the launch of the innovative service, “Digital money is better” aims to highlight the importance of digital money, namely with regard to sending and receiving money.

The project will also focus on improving and expanding the use of mobile money applications and supporting the Government of Angola to increase financial inclusion, with funding of nearly US$XNUMX million from USAID and the same amount from Africell.

In recent times virtual money is a proven tool for financial empowerment, but its benefits are very little explored in Angola compared to the rest of Africa. Through the “Digital Money is Better” project, the US Government, through the USAID – US Agency for International Development will support the development of a digital payments system that benefits the Angolan people, allowing them to make and receive payments at their fingertips. The project will also promote inclusion and financial literacy, with a focus on benefiting women and small businesses.

USAID's Digital Money is Better is an investment of nearly $5 million in mobile network infrastructure, and is part of President Biden's commitment at the 7 G2023 Summit to support the development of the Lobito Corridor through the Partnership for Infrastructure and Global Investments #PGII, and the US Government's commitment to support economic development and job creation in Angola.
