The 14 founders selected for the 2022 edition of VC4A, the main Venture Showcase program dedicated to women-led businesses, are already known.

Each chosen entrepreneur is building innovative solutions on the African continent, bringing disruptive business models that seek to change access to vital services in critical industries – from health to education, from peer-to-peer to transportation and financial services, startups that are transforming African society.

Each startup in the portfolio is looking to raise their pre-seed, seed and series A rounds ranging from $250K to $10M.

Of the $4 billion invested in startups across Africa in 2021, the report Africa: The Big Deal reveals that “7% of funding went to startups led by female CEOs🇧🇷 That's $1 out of every $15 raised going to women-led businesses.

"In addition to understanding the issue and raising awareness, VC4A has decided to act or the issues will never be resolved. The founding edition of the Venture Showcase Africa a Women launched in April as a concrete way to engage investors and drive capital support to outstanding women-led companies“, said Ben White co-founder and CEO of VC4A.

Over the next two months, selected startups will be mentored by leading VC investors and have access to the bespoke VC4A curriculum before delivering their pitch at the 9th edition of the Africa Early Stage Investor Summit.

This year, the three-day hybrid summit, co-hosted with ABAN (African Business Angel Network), will take place from 2-4 November 2022, with a mix of virtual and face-to-face components, including investor meetings in over 25 cities across Worldwide.

"Developing personalized finance tools for women business owners must be deliberate. If we treat it as a deliberate action, we recognize and understand the barriers that prevent women from accessing finance. If you don't treat it as a deliberate action, it will be mere lip service“, He added.

As an active player dedicated to supporting the development of startup ecosystems in emerging markets, VC4A works closely with Africa's investment community and entrepreneur support organizations to forward candidates to the Vitrine, involving investors in the screening, selection process and interview.
