After SPRING and SISTEC have presented their software with focus on the implementation of VAT in Angola, it now appears that eighty software to be used by economic agents for the implementation of Value Added Tax (VAT) are awaiting certification on the platform of the General Tax Administration (AGT).

Second Adilson Sequeira (Technical Coordinator of VAT in Angola), has ensured that they have already received their 20 certification from 100 producers who have recently entered into the validation process. He said he believes that many more software will be certified by the end of the current month. It also pointed out that from July 01 all taxpayer software registered in the tax office of large taxpayers must include VAT on the invoice.

Regarding the oil sector, he said that AGT has adopted a model that is appropriate to the economic situation in Angola, hence innovation in establishing a regime that allows all oil companies, both operators and non-operators, to withhold VAT invoices of the suppliers of goods and services, and then send the respective amount to the state coffers.

AGT is preparing to introduce VAT in July of this year gradually. Under SADC, Angola is the only country whose taxpayers have not yet made contact with the one that is singled out as the most restrained tax for best international taxation practices.
