The fourth telecommunications operator in Angola has been waiting for a long time, with the first call for 4th mobile operator annulled by the current President of the Republic, for lack of transparency.
To this end, a new call for applications was opened, which took place between 30 September 2019 and 22 January 2020, in which three companies (Africell, NTD da Africa South and BAI Angola investments). The subsequent phase, of presenting the technical and financial proposal of the only candidate, took place in the period of 02 March the 04 of May of 2020.
According to the statement of the evaluation committee, it was concluded that the Africell responded satisfactorily to the requirements of the procedural documents, as well as to the interests of the Angolan State, and is expected to bring transversal benefits to all sectors country's economic conditions, as well as for the population in general ”, said the communiqué. The note added that the proposal will also “be factor relevant from projection international market and continuous capture of relevant foreign investments direct for Angola ”.
After the conclusion of the negotiation and the provision of the final terms established, the Africell the license TGU (Unified Global Title), to operate in national territory and celebrate with the Angolan Institute of Communications (INACOM) or respective concession contract.
Africell is currently present in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Gambia (where it officially launched its operations in 2001).
