After 4 intense days in the Seedstars Summit, finally the big winning startup was revealed. It comes from Ghana and is called “AgroCenta”!

But what problem does Agrocenta solve?
A AgroCenta was founded by Francis Obirikorang and Michael K. Ocansey at 2015 to improve the agricultural value chain in Ghana. Two critical problems within the value chain are the lack of market access for small farmers in rural areas and the lack of a coordinated delivery system for trucks to carry farm products to markets.
The idea of AgroCenta is to solve these problems with an online sales platform that connects small farmers directly to an online market, which has a wider geographic size. So farmers control the sale and the price to final customers will become more affordable.
As for transportation, Agrocenta has an interesting solution: once a farmer receives offers from interested buyers, they could call a truck with just one click, using the application TrucKR, developed by Agrocenta, which describes it as “Uber for trucks”.
With the victory in the Seedstars Agrocenta can receive up to 1 million dollars in investment, being able to scale your business much more quickly.
But it didn't stop there at the awards for Africa ...
- Nigerian Vivian Nkwaka, founder of Startup “MedSaf”, won the award for best entrepreneur.
- The South African Startup “EMGuidance”Won in the Health category, leaving the event with 50 thousand USD.
It was a memorable day for the African Startups at Seedstars.
