A first direct link between Africa and South America is already in the Angolan capital, Angola Cables started on August 9, 2017 the launch of the SACS submarine cable (South Atlantic Cable System) from the Angolan coast at Sangano.
The event was attended by the highest authority in the sector, in the person of José Carvalho da Rocha (Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies), in which he assured that the SACS charge, marks an important step for the country's telecommunications, the Brazil. He also stressed that this project was approved in 2009, also ensured that the arrival of this submarine cable will have a great impact in what concerns the increase of the speed of access of the international contents and the provision of better services at affordable prices for the citizen and not only.
The minister also assured that with this first link between Africa and Latin America, Angola is closer to becoming a telecommunications hub within the continent.
According to António Nunes (CEO of Angola Cables), the results of the construction of the SACS are satisfactory, once all the network is completed, together with the surrounding infrastructure, there will be a paradigm shift in the sector, because communications in Angola will be faster.
In practical terms, this means that when every SACS installation and support device is ready, the time it takes to access content available in America will be 5 times smaller, a region that positions itself as one of the largest production and aggregation centers content and digital services.
In this way, it is also important to point out that the installation of SACS represents the realization of a dream for Angola Cables, a development in the telecommunications sector for Angola, which reflects our ability to find solutions and overcome the challenges.
From a commercial point of view, this project will attract more foreign currency to Angola, since the cable will make our father one of the points of convergence of the Internet. The commercialization of services will be targeted at large operators, content providers, OOTS, TDNS, opening a first phase, a range of the Angolan market to capture markets of the east of the African coast.
