Angola should reinforce investments in training staff in the areas of technology, according to the executive of the National Telecommunications Institute of Brazil (Inatel) for the International Services Transfer Area, Leonardo Maya.

Speaking during a visit to the Medium Institute of Telecommunications of Luanda (ITEL), after having participated in the third edition of Angotic/2023, the specialist points out that in a more practical way, the “master's and doctoral degrees are important, but only when looking at the part of scientific and academic research".

Leonardo Maya clarified that Inatel has been working with ITEL since 2007, with the signing of an agreement aimed at training graduates, masters and doctorates in engineering in Brazil.

With the new agreement, he explained, Inatel envisages carrying out new postgraduate courses in the technological area for graduate students who will receive training in Angola, with Brazilian specialists, while the PhD students will leave for Brazil.

BUT: Brazilian telecommunications institute will train Angolan professionals

The executive manager pointed out that the training is aimed at employees of the MINTTICS, Inacom and Intel, to have a greater mastery of aspects related to various areas of technology such as digital television, advanced regulation in telecommunications and 5G.

Leonardo Mayer said that, in the first phase of the agreement, many students were sent to Brazil in order to do their undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees. This time, depending on requests, the agreement foresees starting with two groups of 30 to 40 students.

After these two classes, the agreement provides for the creation of others made up of high-level technicians from the aforementioned Angolan institutions.

The Brazilian official revealed that, as part of the first signed agreement, Inatel trained 50 students, all already in Angola and placed, mostly, at Inacom, with another 15 Angolans in Brazil attending master's and doctoral courses in Telecommunications.
