In recent times, several national institutions have suffered several computer attacks giving a glimpse that our country has become a “market niche” for Cyber-Criminals.

And for now this information, according to the platform Kaspersky CyberMap , which identifies cyber-threats around the world, Angola is one of the 79 countries with the highest cyber-criminal attacks in recent months.

According to the renowned Kaspersky database, the preferred method of attacks by Cyber-criminals in our country is attacks OAS(On-Access Scan), which is malware exposed in the access check, that is, when trying to open, copy or execute a file on our computer. By the end of this article, the data showed almost ten thousand OAS attacks in the last week.

BUT: Public and private companies in Angola, register more than a thousand cyber attacks

Other types of attacks that are being very common in our country, coming from hackers, is the IDS and the WAV, with more than 3 and 4 thousand attacks respectively.

To inform you that Kaspersky's data is updated up to the minute on the platform, and that according to today, Russia, Brazil and China are the countries that receive the most computer attacks around the world.

It should be noted that since 2017, in the context of protecting citizens and organizations of cyberattacks, in view of the new challenges facing the digital world, the National Assembly it has already approved the Law for the Protection of Computer Networks and Systems, which includes cyberterrorism.

Law 7/17, of 16 February, approved by the National Assembly, is not only focused on protecting Angola's cyber space from associated risks. It is a law that also aims to facilitate access to knowledge through digital platforms.

In its Article 2, the legislator's target is Angolan cyberspace, which aims to protect, among others, against any act or attack, computer theft and cyber attack. It is important to realize that cyber criminals use different methods depending on their skills and objectives.

On how to protect yourself from these cyber attacks, the Menos Fios team recommends certain steps below:

1. Watch out for unusual account activity

The first sign of intrusion can be anything from a failed email login attempt to an unrecognized purchase on your credit card.

E-mails like Hotmail and Gmail not only detect attempted access on unusual computers, but also have additional security measures - such as secret questions or confirmation codes by cell phone. Pay attention to the activity history.

2. Limit your information on the network

The more data you make available on the internet, the greater the chances of being the victim of a cyber attack. Do not expose addresses, personal phones or emails without extreme need. The data is seen as "present" in the eyes of cybercriminals. When using any application on another phone, always remember to log out.
