Angosat-2 will provide services to the Luanda Maritime Surveillance Center

O Angosat-2, an Angolan geostationary satellite that has been in orbit since 0:00 on October 13th, will provide communications services to the Luanda Maritime Surveillance Center, being inaugurated on the morning of this Tuesday, 16th, by the President of the Republic, João Lorenzo.

As revealed by the National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN), ANGOSAT-2 will be used as infrastructure that provides essential telecommunications services for the operation of the Center.

The installation of the Ku-band VSAT antenna at the Center is the result of joint work developed by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication and the Ministry of National Defense Former Combatants and Veterans of the Homeland.

BUT: Namibia expresses interest in Angosat-2 services

The Center will work in coordination with the centers of Soyo, Zaire province, Lobito (Benguela) and Namibe, located along the Angolan sea coast and will play a strategic role in protecting Angolan territorial waters, contributing to the country's maritime security, in coordination with other centers, to collect information and provide it to vessels in case of need for intervention.

The National Maritime Coordination and Surveillance Center is located in the Palmeirinhas area, municipality of Belas, and its construction was budgeted at around 70 million dollars.

This is the main Maritime Coordination Center, because it will work in coordination with other centers along the coast, namely Soyo, Lobito and Namibe.
