The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, asked that young Angolans "make good use of social networks", stressing that they should be educated from an early age that a tool made to produce wealth and knowledge, build peace and harmony, " regrettably, it can also be used to destroy, to divide, to sow discord, to create chaos, depending only on the attitude, as active or passive users”.

The Head of State who spoke at the opening of the 3rd edition of the ANGOTIC, stressed that in the Digital Age, communication and information technologies have evolved and made powerful tools available to users, such as tablets and smart mobile phones, on which the so-called digital platforms are based.

"All these means and technological resources, by making a mobile phone, a simple mobile phone, a true mobile office communicable with the world at the click of a button, make them an important tool for work, research, investigation, communication between people, companies and institutions, cultural and scientific exchange", said.

According to João Lourenço, “but as there is no beauty without a flaw”, these means can also be used for malevolent and even criminal purposes, to denigrate the good name and honor of people, organizations and institutions, to serve organized crime, to organize rebellions, riots and coups d'état.

With regard to youth, President João Lourenço referred that young people are the most beloved thing, the most valuable for the present and future of the country. “We will work permanently on their moral and civic education, for the need to defend the noblest values ​​of Christian culture and civilization, for the need for respect for the family, the neighbor, children and the elderly, national symbols and the homeland".

The President of the Republic stated that the Internet, digital platforms, social networks should be used, above all, for academic, cultural and professional improvement or to start and promote business.

During the speech, he appealed to young people not to waste precious time with negative things, with the propagation of rumours, intentionally fabricated lies, political intolerance and hatred.

Finally, the Head of State advised political parties to refrain from radicalizing young people, using them as weapons to throw at their political opponents and, much less, against the homeland.
