A Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), published what was the first transparency report about the App Store. According to the document, which can be read in full through this link, at the end of last year, there were 1.783.232 apps in the App Store. On average, 747.873.877 downloads were made per week, a number that joins the records of the iPhone, iPad and Mac.

The most surprising data is related to the number of applications submitted for review, a process that precedes the integration of any app in the store. Between new apps and update files, Apple analyzed 6.101.913 submissions. Of these, 1.679.694 were rejected.

Most were rejected for not meeting Apple's designated performance minimums. 441.972 were crossed out for legal reasons.

BUT: Apple will remove outdated apps from the App Store

The technology also adds that it removed 186.195 applications from the App Store. 1.474 were removed in response to requests submitted by the Chinese government. China was, moreover, the country that most often requested the removal of apps from the US giant. The second most submitted country was India (14).

The publication of this transparency report is the result of an agreement signed with developers in 2021, after a legal process aimed at the company. At the time, the technology undertook to reveal “relevant statistics on the application review process, including the number of rejected apps, the number of disabled accounts, data related to searches, results and the number of apps removed from the App Store” .
