Today, CES 2021, the largest technology fair in the world, totally virtual starts…

3050

In recent years, CES (Consumer Electronic Show) has brought together the heavyweights of technology to show what’s new. The event has been taking place in Las Vegas, with all the light and brightness, but this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the association responsible for the event, had to change everything to digital format. Visitors will have access to a platform that allows them to “visit” the exhibitions and interact with companies, through meetings that can be scheduled online.

An event with tradition….

For those who have never heard about the event, CES had its first edition in 1967 and this is the first year that the interaction between exhibitors and visitors is switched to 100% digital format, but the concept remains the same: sharing the best news at the technology level. The event starts today, January 11th at 13:00 (Angola time) and ends on January 14th. What to expect from CES 2021?

More focus on products and exhibitors

The “problem” of large fairs is the number of exhibitors and products, making it difficult to find information. For this year, around one thousand are confirmed, a number well below the 2020 edition, which included 4.500 companies.

Transparent OLED screens

With “half” of the world's population confined (or almost confined), the demand for entertainment solutions has increased. TVs are at the top of the list. LG, which has been investing heavily in this segment, should be successful with its transparent OLED screens, with 40% transparency!

“Anti-COVID” technology

Masks in every corner! If entertainment is at the top of the agenda, health should not be left behind, with several companies betting on smart air purifiers, high-tech masks, among others ...

And the phones?

Technology fairs have been the most requested stages by phone manufacturers to capture the attention of the audience. But, with a digital edition of the fair, several manufacturers prefer to organize separate ad events during the year 2021. Still, it is necessary to pay attention to the ads at the fair, good surprises may appear.

The 5G fever

In the past 4 years of CES and beyond, 5G has been on all the central topics. For this year, CES will reserve panels and discussions online, as it will not be possible to do live demonstrations. Taking advantage of the pandemic, companies will certainly take the opportunity to show how 5G can improve telemedicine.

Samsung… again.

Samsung's marketing has been at a different level at the fairs, at CES 2021 the South Korean giant decided not to leave its credits in the hands of others and announced the event Samsung Unpacked, where it is already known that it will launch its next high-end smartphone, the Galaxy S21. The event will take place on January 14, at CES's virtual show.
