O World Bank will continue to support digital transformation in Angola through the World Bank Group’s Digital Economy for Africa (DE4A) flagship initiative, thereby supporting the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020–30) prepared by the African Union.

The information was revealed during the 3rd edition of the Forum of the Institute of Administrative Modernization (IMA), by Digital Development expert Naomi Halewood, noting that the aim is to examine ways in which countries can accelerate the process of digital transformation, seizing opportunities to move forward, mitigating risks and, throughout the process, increasing inclusive development in Angola.

The specialist called for the creation of a digital infrastructure based on a solid basis in the political, legal and regulatory structure of the sector, with increased autonomy in the near future, a highly developed state-of-the-art international connectivity infrastructure, several network operators in each segment of the market, with potential for growth, fiber optic cable owned by energy companies and railroads open for use by telecom operators, through sharing regulations.

Naomi Halewood also defended the implementation of government plans for the sale of State shares in selected telecommunications companies, significant potential for Angola to become a digital distribution center for the African region Digital Public Services: main strengths and opportunities, comprehensive legislation of data protection.

The 3rd edition of the Forum of the Institute of Administrative Modernization took place on the last 27th of July, bringing together different actors from the public and private sector in favor of the modernization of the State.

This edition once again addressed the digitization and interoperability of the Angolan Public Administration, promoting the participation of various actors in the design, operation and decision-making process of the different initiatives in terms of the provision of public services.
