Expansion of services in Angola depends on sharing telecommunications infrastructure

A sharing of telecommunications infrastructure enables the rapid and consistent expansion of services throughout Angola, including in remote areas, and this is what we need now”, according to Anglobal's administrator, Paul da Gama.

Speaking in a press release issued by the ANGOP, the manager points out that the development of the digital economy in its various forms depends significantly on efficient telecommunications and despite the logistical challenges, the Angolan market in this area shows a remarkable evolution.

Paul da Gama stresses that in a world as competitive as it is today, knowledge sharing, as well as infrastructure sharing, becomes vital for the evolution and progression of strongly identified indicators in terms of service availability, having as a condition the quality of services in terms of concerns telecommunications.

BUT: Sharing infrastructure between operators in the telecommunications sector is a must

With much to be done, the intention is to increase the penetration of mobile services, with emphasis on rural areas, but with the very high cost of infrastructure, it consequently leads to a high price where operators do it in order to recover their investment. Telecommunications companies in Africa can experience a reduction in capital expenditures of up to 60% by reducing individual needs which consequently shortens the payback period.

To inform you that very recently the mobile telephony operator Africell accused Unitel of “extortion”, for charging very high prices for access to infrastructure, the sharing of which is defined by law, namely presidential decree No. 166/14 of 10 July.

As revealed by the News, this attitude of Unitel caused Africell to fail to launch twice.
