How will the new submarine cable increase connectivity and growth in Africa?

Recently the Angola Cables announced that the installation of submarine cables is 85% installed at sea, very close to reaching the Brazilian coast, in the State of Ceará, in Fortaleza.

With the entry of this new submarine cable, Internet traffic from Africa Angola will no longer have to travel through Europe to reach data centers in the Americas (the largest center for the production and aggregation of digital content and services).

In this way, with the SACS, the first direct link between Africa and South America will be created. A submarine cable that extends over 6500 km between Brazil and Angola, the SACS will be owned and managed 100% by a company Angola, Angola Cables. Combined with Monet, a cable system between Brazil and the USA and operated by Angola Cables, Algar Telecom, Antel it's gigantic Google.

Currently, the time interval between a data packet sent and received on submarine fiber optic cables between Angola and Brazil is 350 milliseconds, due to Internet traffic in Europe. With SACS, this will be reduced to 63 milliseconds, thus reducing 287 milliseconds.

Therefore, it is important to note that, once operational, an Angolan company will be responsible for the digital exchange between Africa and the Americas. Together with the growing terrestrial fiber optic systems, mobile technologies and satellite services, this direct connection will improve access by other countries (in the Middle East and Asia, for example) to more parts of the world.

Do you believe SACS will improve traffic in content access?
