This integration, announced by Tier IV Onix Data Centre, will improve international connectivity in Ghana and Senegal, with provision and access to 66 new data centers, eight OTTs/CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) and 21 IXPs (Internet exchange point) .

“The 2000 m2 data center was designed to respond to the growing demands of companies in Ghana and the region”, says Onix. The facility already serves major banking and financial customers and has been specifically designed to provide flexible services to the business and corporate sectors.

To ensure maximum uptime and reliability, the installation currently has 170 3kW and 5kW racks and a set of 50 racks available for individual customers who want to share infrastructure and reduce costs.

According to Michael Nahon, CEO of Onix, the partnership with Angola Cables through its West African subsidiary, TelCables, is a critical component in providing carrier-interconnected and cloud-neutral services to a wide range of customers looking to store and manage your digital assets and business-critical data.

“Our intention has been to develop a reliable facility that can accommodate and provide secure services to hyperscalers and carriers supporting terrestrial networks, as well as existing and new submarine cables planned for the region.”

When it comes to green energy, Nahon states: “Currently, solar technology generates 67% of our energy needs. We also have the ability to increase this value in the future as we grow.”

According to Fernando Fernandes, CEO of TelCables Nigeria, West Africa, Ghana and Senegal are key and expanding economies in the Pan-African market.

“Partners like Onix are playing a vital role in developing the infrastructure needed to expand digital services and provide the platform for ISPs, CDNs and other companies contributing to the explosive growth of data traffic, cloud services and content distribution across the African continent.”
