The service Connect Angola recently arrived in the province of Cuando Cubango, where more than six thousand inhabitants of the commune of Jamba Cueio, 120 kilometers from Menongue, will benefit from the internet.

According to the vice-governor of Cuando Cubango for Technical Services and Infrastructures, Bonifácio Cassanga, the internet service was tested with positive results and where the implementation of “Conecta Angola” shows the Executive's commitment to providing telecommunications services to the populations of the areas more remote areas, where there is no telephone signal from the Unitel, Africell e Movicel.

The vice-governor highlighted that the launch of this service is an added value, as the population, especially public servants, will better develop their work, commerce and other activities.

"From today onwards, moments of isolation remain in history, where populations were forced to communicate through letters and made the functioning of public institutions inefficient, especially at the level of local administration, as well as in the health and education sectors, making it difficult , also, emergency cases and the development of the private sector", said.

BUT: Conecta Angola will reach several provinces in the coming months

The town of Licua, in the municipality of Mavinga, will be the next beneficiary of the “Conecta Angola” project.

According to Bonifácio Cassanga, the installation of the service in Licua will be important as it covers the Mavinga National Park, which is very rich in fauna and flora, and which is currently devoid of telecommunications services.

"Taking into account the territorial complexity that the province of Cuando Cubango presents, it is necessary that these telecommunications services are installed at the level of communal headquarters and locations where there are no mobile phone signals, so that populations are connected with other regions of the country and from abroad, in order to allow greater interaction", said.

Executive director of Angola Telecom António Mascarenhas said that the launch of the “Conecta Angola” project in the province of Cuando Cubango represents a significant milestone in the expansion of telecommunications services to remote areas of the country.

António Mascarenhas explained that the project is a joint initiative between several institutions, with emphasis on FADECOM, INFRASAT, GGPEN e INFOSI.
