EMIS denounces scams through the Multicaixa Express service

2207

The Interbank Service Company (EMIS) today issued an official note to Angolan civil society on the occurrence of scams in the service Multicaixa Express, which consist of phone calls, sending messages and requesting to fill in forms on fake internet pages.

According to the company's statement, which MenosFios had access to, it informs that “neither EMIS nor the Banks, at any time, call customers to request the provision of personal data and security codes", thus drawing attention to MCX Express users not to provide their personal data, PINs and validation codes, by telephone, message or by filling out forms, to "avoid being victims of scams, the consequence of which is the indiscriminate withdrawal of funds from their bank accounts".

BUT: Multicaixa Express moved over 4,9 billion kwanzas in 2021

In the respective note, EMIS also reveals that “the information pages of the Multicaixa Network and the Banks on social networks are never used to request personal data. The PIN is personal and non-transferable and should never be given to third parties, even if they identify themselves as account managers, employees of Banks or EMIS".

In the press release, EMIS ends by saying that “the MCX Express channel is extremely safe because it complies with the best international practices, users just need not to be carried away by false and/or tempting offers, to avoid losing their money through fraud".

It should be noted that this note aims to raise the awareness of MCX Express users because, despite calls for attention to not sharing personal codes, inexplicably, they end up handing them over to strangers, unfortunately collaborating with this, to carry out scams against If you have any need, you should only contact your bank or the support service of the MULTICAIXA network using only the contacts on the back of the MULTICAIXA cards.
