The first version of the Edge browser for MacOS is available

Last month, Microsoft released a new version of its new Edge browser, equipped with Chromium, for Windows 10. Now, Apple users will also be able to test the browser with macOS. For the most part, the MacOS Canary Build comes with the same features you will find in the Windows 10 preview, but Microsoft promises changes to "make you feel at home on a Mac".

Just like the trial version of Windows 10 , Edge for MacOS Canary Build borrows the main design features of Google Chrome, it’s built on the same open source base as Chromium. The new browser should better align with current web standards, which will lead to an improved experience for the average user and, if things go as Microsoft expects, it will gain popularity among developers, who abandoned Edge to test pages on Chrome.

A macOS preview includes modifications to fonts, menus and keyboard shortcuts that Mac users will find familiar. It also adds controls like website shortcuts and switching tabs via the Touch Bar, and works with familiar gestures from trackpad on the Mac. Microsoft says it will continue to improve the browser as it evolves in future versions.

If you want, you can download macOS Canary build here , and Microsoft promises that a preview will be available soon for Windows 7 and Windows 8 soon.
