You certainly know the Raspberry Pi, the microcomputer that has been successful in recent years. The main reason this computer is so requested is because it is really "Micro". The Raspberry Pi has the space equivalent to a credit card, however it has the elements of a traditional computer: processor, graphics processor, memory card slot, USB interface, HDMI and their respective controllers. In addition, it also features RAM memory, power input and expansion buses.
One of the reasons that could prevent many people from taking Raspberry Pi too seriously was their appearance. Yes, that computer had a very “Geek” aspect, very technical, not very commercial.
But why did they make a computer without a "case"?
Price. A housing for the Raspberry Pi had to be cheap and easy to assemble. The final version of this cabinet is made up of five parts made with injected plastic.
The price of the box is 8,59 USD. The Raspberry Pi costs 35 USD, so there is still a good cost / benefit ratio.
In fact there are already dozens of other boxes for the Raspberry Pi, however the price is not as competitive as the official version.
