O National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) launched last Friday(29) a geospatial data platform to help companies with mining operations in the diamond subsector in the country, called “TECH-MINAS”.
In partnership with Empresa Nacional de Diamantes de Angola (Endiama), the technological innovation comes to be an internationally recognized Angolan solution, which aims to provide earth observation products and services to the mining sector.
TECH-MINAS is a service that provides the status of mining assets, monitoring and mapping of mining activity, as well as environmental impact, through the Angolan satellite (ANGOSAT-2).
For example, the platform will also focus on the location of clandestine mining activity, carried out by miners, rivers, roads and other solutions.
According to GGPEN, TECH-MINAS presents innovation by integrating the most modern artificial intelligence techniques and tools to improve users' experience when using Geographic Information System (WebGIS) web tools.
BUT: GGPEN carries out activities to raise interest in space technology
TECH-MINAS, according to the Cabinet, offers advantages such as “optimization of resources”, reduction of operational costs”, “added value in service management” and “payment in national currency”, unlike services purchased by companies abroad and paid with foreign exchange.
In addition to that technology, GGPEN also presented the TECH-AGRO and TECH- ECOLOGY, two technological tools aimed at the agricultural and ecological domains, respectively.
Currently, according to the President of the Board of Directors of ENDIAMA – Public Company, José Ganga Júnior, who co-organized the workshop with GGPEN, TECH-MINAS technology is already used in the Luaximbo, Samacanda and Luaxe mining projects.
It should be noted that very recently GGPEN and ENDIAMA signed several partnership agreements, with the aim of checking the potential of technological studies developed by national experts
