Government launches tender for construction of Science and Technology Park in Luanda

The Angolan Government has launched a tender for the construction of the Science and Technology Park in Luanda, a project that is estimated to cost more than US$100 million, reveals the New Journal.

The Science and Technology Park, for the country's capital, was announced in March 2019 by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Sambo, on a visit to Portugal, and where the infrastructure will have research laboratories, databases for the management of intellectual and scientific information, financed in part by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

“The construction of the park is part of the science and technology development project, with a value of US$100 million, with funding of US$90 million from the African Development Bank”, said the Minister, in 2019.

The objective of the tender is to build nine buildings with a maximum of three floors above the ground floor, rehabilitate 11 existing buildings, demolish another five and remove the respective rubble. It is still necessary to build and rehabilitate roads, paths, sidewalks, parking lots, gates, as well as take care of all the work related to landscaping the area, namely green areas and construction of a central fountain, determines the announcement of the opening of the tender published on the portal of public procurement.

The project is also divided into several aspects, including the offer of two-year scholarships to girls from needy families attending secondary education in the areas of science and technology, engineering and mathematics, physical and biological sciences and health , explained the minister.

Still on the tender, add that it runs until the 03rd of May, and where the proposals are accompanied by a bank guarantee in the amount of 600 thousand USD.
