IBM finally concluded Red Hat purchase

In 2018 the IBM has agreed an astronomical agreement to buy Red Hat, which was considered one of the greatest technology acquisitions of all time. Now the company has fully completed the operation.

In all, IBM bought Red Hat for 34 billion USD.

A IBM originally announced its intention to acquire the Linux developer in October last year. The US Department of Justice gave its seal of approval in May, and the last major potential obstacle was removed when the European Union gave its unconditional approval at the end of June.

Of course, the acquisition will allow IBM to expand its cloud computing offerings, while ensuring that its services enable more companies to change their operations online, and that the proprietary nature of existing cloud systems means that it is more difficult move and protect data from system to system.

IBM says Red Hat will be under CEO management Jim Whitehurst, with Whitehurst joining IBM's senior management and reporting directly to the IBM CEO, Ginni Rometty.
