Investigation shows that Apple collects personal data from iPhone users

A Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has been appealing to the privacy of its users, adopting measures to limit the collection of private data without consent. There are new features in the latest versions of iOS that hurt the advertising industry by making it difficult for companies to target their ads. But that doesn't mean Apple's smartphones are exempt from collecting their users' private data any more than they should, security researchers believe.

Researchers Tommy Mysk and Tala Haj Bakry published an analysis of how Apple is even collecting personal data from users, with the ability to identify them. in a series of tweets, it was explained that Apple's analytics data includes an identifier called "DSID", which according to investigators stands for "Directory Services Identifier". It is an ID that uniquely identifies an iCloud account, “meaning that Apple analytics can identify you in a personalized way”, reads the message.

BUT: Who pays musicians better, Apple or Spotify?

And this identification clashes with what is mentioned in the service usage note on the analytics and privacy of the equipment, which state that the data collected does not identify the user personally. Which investigators consider to be less than illuminating. The researchers further claim that the App Store continues to send detailed analytics to Apple, even when the analytics sharing option is turned off by the user.

An image of an API connected to iCloud was also shared, where the respective DSID was identified along with the user's personal data. Among the data associated with the DSID are the name, email and any other information in the iCloud account.

In their conclusion, the researchers say that the Apple Store sends detailed analytics of its users to Apple and that there is no way to prevent it, even when you choose not to share in the settings. Likewise, analytics data is directly linked to users.
