If somebody told me sometime ago that it would be possible to watch an HD movie online or that it would be possible to hold video conferences with people miles away, there was a risk of being called crazy. But this is clearly past. Today the internet puts us anywhere, anytime. Whether talking, watching videos, meeting new people and cultures or even playing games, we travel the world without even realizing it.

Many of you may already have felt the joy of opening a document in Google Docs and starting to write, without wasting all that time installing Office or some other similar package. Now imagine doing the same thing to play, without having to wait hours to complete the download. And no, I do not mean the little games made in flash or html5 with which we are all accustomed. I speak of games with AAA quality, like Batman Arkham Origins for example.

I speak of the work that Mozilla has been developing with Epic, developer of the Unreal engine. Basically, what they have been doing is, using a technology called asm.js developed by Mozilla, to make games that previously could only be run natively run from the browser. And that without having to install anything completely.

Anyway, enough talk. The following video shows better than I'm talking about.

According to Brendan Eich, CTO and SVP of engineering at Mozilla, this technology has reached a point where players can start playing by just clicking on a link, with almost no difference from those where they could have had to wait to download and install.
