A Entertainment Software Association announced this week that the next edition of E3: Electronic Entertainment Expo will once again be held entirely in digital format, which will be the third consecutive year that the organization cancels the face-to-face format due to the evolution and restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Due to the risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on exhibitor and visitor safety, E3 will not be held in person in 2022. We remain very excited about the future of E3 and will announce more details soon”, can be in official statement on the ESA website.

It should be noted that in 2020, the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic, ESA was unable to adapt quickly to the change to online and ended up canceling the edition completely, with parallel events being held by publishers to show their new games.

In 2021, the E3: Electronic Entertainment Expo was held in June in the online format, and for that year the ESA prefers not to risk it and therefore completely discards the physical concept to dedicate itself to the organization in the digital format.

This decision to carry it out in digital format, according to the specialized media, comes after the CTA, the association that organizes CES, was criticized for having advanced with the face-to-face edition in 2022, which takes place during this week.

Due to the high risk of contagion among visitors to the technological event, several technology companies even canceled their physical presence, contributing with their presentations in digital format.
