The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies, Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, assured that “we were successful in the first stage of launching the Angosat-2".

"During this process, which culminated in the launch of Angosat-2, a series of measurements and calculations were made and the satellite passed all tests carried out.”, said the minister in statements to journalists.

At this moment, all the telemetry signals that Angosat-2 has been sending to Earth comply with nominal standards, emphasizing “the satellite is flying under its own conditions".

It should be noted that the Angosat-2 satellite has been in orbit since 3 am today (13), after being launched yesterday at 20 pm local time (16 Angolan time), at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan. Angosat-2 traveled 36.000 kilometers from the Earth's surface to geostationary orbit, where it must position itself.

The moment was witnessed by the Minister and the director of the Russian Space Agency – Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov.

Senior officials from the Ministry and the Space Agency completed the team, who accompanied all the moments from the Observation Center of the Station, which is seven kilometers away.

The Angosat-2 was placed into orbit by the Proton-M rocket, from ramp 81. After the launch, the rocket and the DM-10 block (upper stage) separated within the first 03 minutes, with three impulses continuing. until it separates from the satellite in geostationary orbit.

BUT: SADC countries interested in purchasing Angosat-2 services

Proton-M is made up of three stages, which separate sequentially throughout the launch process. After the separation of the DM-block, the satellite stabilization process began and the opening of the solar panels to capture the sun's rays, which is its main primary source of energy.

During the presentation meeting of the team of engineers, Mário Oliveira highlighted that the launch of Angosat-2 will allow the Executive to fulfill the objectives of improving the sector in the country, thus contributing to the development of Angola.

Mário Oliveira thanked, on behalf of the Angolan Government, all the commitment of the technical team that worked to materialize the challenge: “By the parameters observed during the launch, we believe that we will achieve the objectives of the Executive”.

For his part, the director of the Russian Space Agency – Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, recognized that, with this step, Angola took on a very hard and intense challenge, where everyone worked hard to build the satellite and launch rocket: “We expect that, in less than six hours, the satellite will be at the defined point and begin to perform its functions.".
