Ministry of Interior received donation from Huawei

It has recently emerged that Interior minister wants to use technology to fight crime, after a few months, one of the world's largest suppliers of telecommunications equipment delivers computer and information technology means to assist the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) to strengthen its digital inclusion capacity.

O Ministry of the Interior, Eugénio César Laborinho, held, on April 21, 2020, in Luanda, a working meeting with a Chinese delegation headed by Gong Tao, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China accredited in Angola, from which he received various computer and information technology means to assist MININT to strengthen its digital inclusion capacity. The delivery of the means is the result of a donation made by the Chinese law firm Huawei Technologies Lda. During the meeting, the two parties equally signed a memorandum of intent that essentially aims at training and educating staff allocated to MININT in the field of information and communication technologies.

Eugénio Laborinho characterized the gesture of the Chinese company as a demonstration of a long-term vision, as it will help to consolidate and strengthen the operational volume of the MININT bodies, in terms of computerization of their data and information. "We are fully aware that Huawei is one of the Chinese companies that has maintained a fruitful and important partnership with the Ministry of the Interior in the implementation of various technological projects in the scope of public security, as well as in other areas", said the Minister.

It is also worth remembering that Huawei was involved in the implementation process of the Operational Coordination Center for Civil Protection and Firefighters, as well as at the level of the Integrated Center for Public Security (CISP).
