CPLP ministers recognize the role of technology in eradicating poverty

The Ministers of Communications of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) reinforce the need to recognize the role of digital solutions in eradicating poverty and promoting prosperity, as well as contributing to advances in all dimensions of sustainable development.

According to those responsible for the CPLP Communications sector, speaking at the XI Meeting of CPLP Ministers, digital solutions come to bring economic, social and environmental benefits to everyone, leaving no one behind.

BUT: CPLP implements “Digital Agenda” to serve as a strategic guide in digital matters

The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), within the framework of the successful implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, in the Communications sector and to work on the Strategic Vision of the CPLP 2016 – 2026, which encourages the deepening cooperation between Member States, through the network and the development of programs and contents in Portuguese in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

They also considered the Communications sector to be important to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the services provided by the State and that it enhances opportunities for cooperation and political concertation for the economic and social development of the CPLP.
