“Angola Online” will earn more than 50 new free internet points

Angola will gain more than 50 new free internet points under the program "Angola Online”, being carried out by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS).

According to the deputy director for the technical area of ​​the National Institute for the Promotion of the Information Society (INFOSI), Marcos Damião, the new free internet access points to be installed in national territory will join the current 127, making a total of 177 points of the “Angola Online” program, which comes with the main objective of help students from underprivileged areas to search for academic content and allow for more exchange of information.

"Angola Online" also has the support of several national technology companies, with emphasis on Angola Telecom, TV Cabo, Internet Technologies Angola (ITA), UNITEL and Zap Fibras, within the scope of its social responsibilities, while in suburban areas they will be installed through the VSat system, that is, via satellite and at each access point installed 100 megabytes, for a range of 100 meters away, coupled with lightning rods.

Marcos Damião also stressed that the process of revitalizing and installing new free internet access points began on the 23rd of this month and has already allowed people living in the most deprived areas of the provinces of Luanda, Zaire, Moxico and Namibe to benefit of the initiative.
