Mozambique. Students and tutors receive tablets for distance learning

More than three hundred students, 70 tutors and 15 managers of the Secondary Distance Learning Program (PESD) of the second cycle in various secondary schools in the city of Beira, Mozambique, received tablets and annual internet mobile cards, with the aim of helping in the teaching-learning process.

Lourenço Bulha, governor of Sofala, who was at the delivery of the technological means, said that the PESD is a program that offers a great option for studying in general secondary education through a modality that encourages self-learning and promotes the opening of secondary education general, as well as the digital inclusion of women and people with special educational needs.

The leader also stressed that distance education is a teaching model that is distinguished by the separation between the student and the teacher, through the use of technology to mediate learning, through self-instructional modules, tablets, cell phones and computers.

Also at the event, it was revealed that the tablets come to allow access to the learning platform "moodle” and access to the Mozambican Ministry of Education website, thus enabling bibliographic research and where students will have opportunities to view experiences, images and didactic videos.

"But it is not enough to have the tablets, it is necessary to keep them so that more students can have access. Therefore, we advise everyone present to conserve and control these devices.“, said Lourenço Bulha.

On the other hand, Rotafina Wilson, Deputy Provincial Director of Education, who was also present at the delivery of tablets, called on the beneficiaries to use the electronic devices well and only for the purposes for which they were delivered, since anyone who transgresses the rules will be sanctioned with a disciplinary process.

It should be noted that the Secondary Distance Learning Program (PESD) currently has 3753 students enrolled, accompanied by 98 tutors, seven managers, seven deputy directors and an equal number of school directors, as well as a coordinator and a supervisor of this teaching modality .
