TotalEnergies Marketing Mozambique recently awarded the winners of the contest Startup of the Year Challenge, a competition that aims to develop innovative potential in favor of public health, safety, education, accessibility and other issues that affect local communities.

The “Best Business Creation Project” went to Márcia Dimas, with the initiative Organic Fertilizer, where in his award speech he highlighted that young Mozambicans have had a shortage of jobs in the country, even with several business opportunities.

“There is so much to do and so much to improve, it is a matter of taking the resources we have and moving forward firmly and strongly, taking initiatives and having the courage to face challenges and, above all, supporting each other”, said the founder.

In the “Best Entrepreneur” category, several female candidates were evaluated on their ability to develop actions to promote female entrepreneurship, as well as improve the daily lives of women in their community.

On the Mozambican edition, the jury was made up of specialists from the world of startups and company managers who evaluated the relevance of the projects based on their response to the challenges of sustainable development, their innovative character and their viability and development potential.

According to Fanny Canetf, General Manager of Total Energies Marketing, the competition received several innovative projects in all its categories, all of which were centered on innovation.

“Entrepreneurship is in our DNA and we want to find young people and demonstrate that from an idea it is possible to achieve a result in the community. Companies such as TotalEnergies are in a position to offer the possibility of developing young entrepreneurs and that is why we launched this challenge”, stressed the manager.

On the other hand, Luísa Diogo, godmother of the Startupper of the Year Challenge, highlighted the coaching component of the project as a determining factor for the initiative.

“I took on this role in the project because I believe in young entrepreneurs. And in this challenge, we shouldn't focus on the winners, but look at all the young people who participated, these young people already see the business world in a different way. We hope that our country will manage to be in the winners of our region, ”he said.

To inform that with the announcement of the winners of Mozambique and Angola, the project moves on to the continental phase, which foresees the participation of 32 countries, in order to find the winner of the third edition of the initiative.
