Mozambican mobile phone companies have not complied with the set-up time for voice calls on 2G and 3G networks, according to a quality of service assessment carried out in the first week of January 2022 by the Autoridade Reguladora das Comunicações (INCM), reveals the newspaper THE COUNTRY.

According to the investigation carried out by the Mozambican regulator, the lack of quality of services provided by cellular mobile operators in the country, mainly in the Maputo metropolitan area, was noted, with poor data flow and non-compliance with call setup times. voice over 2G and 3G networks.

This INCM activity results from the fact that Mozambique is in one of the moments of greatest demand for communications services, and where this quality assessment was carried out in the cities of Maputo and Matola, districts of Marracuene and Boane, as well as in the connecting roads of these cities, from the 1st to the 3rd of the current month, something that had already been announced by the President of the Board of Directors of the INCM, on December 28, 2021.

BUT: Mozambique: Government will demand better services from the three mobile operators

It should also be noted that, during the measurement period, in terms of the “call establishment time” indicator for voice, in the 2G and 3G networks, the INCM noticed a low quality, considering what had been pre-established. While in the “Data Throughput” all cellular mobile operators in the country met the established targets, and where in the 4G network, Vodacom is the best, with 38,4Mbps, followed by Tmcel (6,93, 4,98Mbps) and, in third place, Movitel (XNUMX).

Another peculiarity seen in the INCM measurement is that for 2G and 3G networks, telephone operators in the country managed to reach levels of “good” national coverage, as it was seen above 70%. With this, it was possible to obtain information on the level of geographic coverage and quality of services practiced in 2G (GSM), 3G (UMTS) and 4G (LTE) technologies, simultaneously for all cellular mobile telephony operators, in the perspective of of a common user.
