Mozambique: Country has new TV channel with original and national content

Mozambican society has, since last week, another television channel, called “Maningue Magic”, which included telenovelas, fiction, “reality shows” and programs produced by actors from the country in its catalogue.

The channel, which is shown on the DStv and GOtv platforms, was launched in Fortaleza de Maputo, and aims to expand the various forms of manifestation and production (cinema, theatre, music, promotion of shows and entertainment events) of content Mozambican, thus leading to the promotion of the country's image at national and international level, with the safeguard of copyright.

According to the General Manager of MultiChoice in Mozambique, Agnelo Laice, the “Maningue Magic" comes to create a space for the growth of cultural and creative industries in the country "with an impact on the value chain based on the talent and artistic skills of the producers, capacity to generate jobs and more revenue for the State".

Still at the channel's launch event, for Agnelo Laice, it represents a qualitative leap in the offer of television content produced in Mozambique.

"we will continue to work with national producers and support new producers, who are now on the channel "Maningue Magic” a platform of recognized credit, through which they can convey their content in high quality to Mozambique and across borders”, he reinforced.

Regarding the new channel, still in the Director-General's mind, it also responds to the commitment to develop the entertainment industry in Mozambique and on the African continent.

On the other hand, João Ribeiro, Director of the Channel, said that the “Maningue Magic” will totally improve the experience of Mozambican viewers.

"we are proud of our role in the entertainment sector. This launch reinforces the strategic vision of being the main storyteller of our continent and opens a new stage in the relationship with the industry in the country”, informed João Ribeiro.

It was also revealed that the channel's content invites reflection on essential themes of Mozambican daily life such as betrayal, struggle for survival, family conflicts and country-city dichotomy, told with a great deal of creativity.

Currently theManingue Magic” features content such as the telenovela “Maida”, the series “A Influencer”, “Estação do Boss”, “Date My Familiy Moçambique”, “Top Mais” and “Txunado”.
