Telephone operator Moçambique Telecom (Tmcel) last week started the second phase of implementation of the project to modernize and expand its network, reveals the newspaper O País.
According to information, this second phase consists of a modernization and expansion of the mobile network, with the introduction of new equipment (2G and 3G), and the introduction of 4G and 4.5G technology throughout the country, as well as the modernization and increase in the capacity of the entire transmission backbone (Backbone).
This implementation of this Tmcel project is expected to be concluded in 2023, and its completion will allow for the expansion of coverage and improvement of the quality of Tmcel's network, specifically with regard to voice and data services, as well as an increase in capacity and availability of services provided to customers.

It should also be noted that this improvement in the network will additionally contribute to promoting the financial inclusion of Mozambicans, without forgetting also electronic money transactions in the formal and informal sectors, through mKesh, a platform that was recently introduced in the market.
Finally, this second phase follows the first phase of network modernization, in August 2019, with completion in December of the same year, with the installation of 4G technology in the cities of Maputo and Matola. thus contributing to the improvement of voice and data services in the areas covered
