The rumors began to emerge during the afternoon of yesterday (01) and were later officially confirmed by the ESA (Entertainment Software Association): this year there is neither in-person nor online edition of the E3 gaming convention.

In January, the ESA had already confirmed that this year's edition of E3 would only be online, announcing the cancellation of the face-to-face version. Now, it is confirmed today that not even this modality will be carried out, without any reason having been advanced. Everything indicates that ESA intends to reinforce it in a big way, with next year's edition of the event.

BUT: Largest video game fair returns in digital format in 2022 due to Covid-19

Remember that in 2020, E3 was completely canceled due to Covid-19 and the pandemic forced the 2021 version to be digital only. For this year, the initial plan was for a mixed event, but in January it was confirmed that it would be online only. Since then, the internal discussions about that year's edition have been unconvincing, with some usual players condemning ESA's role in the process, revealing frustration with the IGN.
