Will mobile operators update prices?

During Expansão's VI Telecom forum taking place this Friday at the intercontinental hotel in Luanda, those responsible for mobile operators do not confirm increases in communications prices for now, but they do not rule out the possibility of doing so, as costs are higher high and investments are high.

The basis is the depreciation of the kwanza and the rise in inflation, which increased companies' costs and reduced families' purchasing power.

The CEO of Unitel, Miguel Geraldes, said that the scenario is challenging, and forces the institution to make several calculations to keep the business profitable and argues that in terms of financing it is more difficult, since “the subsidized interest rates that exist for some sectors do not apply to Telecons”.

In turn, Gonçalo Farias, administrator of Africell argued that there is still a lot to fix before moving forward with a possible increase in prices, as families' net incomes have also fallen.

Participating in the round table with the theme “The Challenges of Infrastructure, Financing and New Digital Concepts” were Miguel Geraldes (CEO UNITEL), Gonçalo Farias (Administrator of Africell), Marcus Valdez (General Director of DStv Angola), Carlos Pinho (Managing Partner at QUALITY), Paulo Alves (Executive Administrator of BFA) and Lutuima Vaz da Conceição (general director of New cognito). João Armando, Director of the newspaper Expansão, moderated the debate.
