The Luanda Science and Technology Park, an undertaking that began in February this year, will be completed in 2025, informed the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa.
Speaking at the 8th National Conference on Science and Technology, the leader stressed that the Luanda Park will play a crucial role in the development of entrepreneurship, in collaboration between Higher Education and scientific research institutions, in companies, in the Government and society, as well as in promoting innovation, access to infrastructures, laboratories and offices to support research activities, aiming to encourage and strengthen startups.
"The creation and growth of technology-based companies, through business incubators, is a contribution to the sustainable development of the country, which motivated the construction of the Luanda Science and Technology Park”, he declared, praising that Luanda Park's affiliation with the International Association of Science Parks and Innovation Areas, in September this year, will facilitate international collaboration.
"The Executive has promoted, especially in HEIs, the holding of innovation competitions and the creation of business incubators, included in academic entrepreneurship programs, to foster creative ideas and transform them into viable businesses, helping to create employment opportunities for young people"He said.
The technological infrastructure will accommodate some companies and respond to the challenges of the system for promoting science and technology research, informed the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança.
The project is divided into several aspects, including the offer of two-year scholarships to girls from needy families to attend secondary education in the areas of science and technology, engineering and mathematics, physical and biological sciences and health, explained the minister.
