More than 60 frauds were detected using the “Multicaixa Express” application in the last two years, according to data from the Angolan Association for the Protection of Consumers of Banking Services and Products (ACONSBANC).

According to Nelson Prata, President of ACONSBANC, he informed that his institution registers on average one to two cases of fraud per day, where to minimize the phenomenon, it has published alerts with precise instructions so that consumers and customers do not "be fooled".

The President also said that the Interbank Service Company SA (EMIS) and the National Bank of Angola (BNA), as network management entities and licensers of the Angolan financial system, are aware of the phenomenon and have been working to mitigate fraud.

"Unfortunately, those who engage in this practice of fraud also study and we are not always able to anticipate them.”, said Nelson Prata.

BUT: EMIS will reinforce the security mechanisms of Multicaixa Express

It was also revealed that among the most recurrent complaints, presented by consumers, we highlight the floods in the Multicaixa Terminals - ATM, lack of loading thereof, card fraud, undue movements in customer accounts, movements in accounts held by deceased customers. , as well as delays in service.

Regarding the complaints, Nelson Prata added that the association registered, from 2020 until the first quarter of this year, more than 700 complaints. Of this number, clarified the president of ACONSBANC, the association resolved 68 cases, which represents about 10 percent.

"For us, this percentage is not satisfactory because the vast majority of banks still look at ACONSBANC with some distrust”, he denounced, after noting that so far no case has been transferred to the courts.

"Although the Law gives us the prerogative to bring collective actions within the scope of consumer protection associations, we have not yet taken advantage of this prerogative, which could occur at any time, due to the inertia of some banking institutions“, he declared.
