In recent years we have been watching smartphones, especially on the Android side, receiving more and more RAM. Nowadays it is not difficult to find Android smartphones with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. But that norm may soon change again.
According to the leaker Digital Chat Station, the first Android devices are coming soon, which will have an impressive 24 GB of RAM. The leaker claims that these devices are now being studied by “OGA”, a name given to the alliance between Realme, OnePlus and Oppo.
Information indicates that these companies are considering providing models with up to 24 GB of RAM for users, in premium models. At the same time, devices with 16 GB of RAM would be considered “normal” for these top models.
However, despite the greater amount of RAM, this also raises some questions, especially in terms of the amount of memory that a smartphone really needs. The same idea is something that can be seen in cameras, where lately brands have started to bet on the idea that “more MP equals better cameras” – something that does not always happen.
In this way, it will be difficult for companies to sell the idea that consumers will really need 24 GB of RAM in their devices, when the currently existing values are already difficult to reach “the limit”.
