the state oil company Sonangol signed a partnership with ENI in the wind energy sector, for the development of a project to generate 50 megawatts, thus allowing savings of more than 20 million dollars per year.

According to Baltazar Miguel, Executive Director of the oil company and speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola, he informed that this partnership represents Sonangol's diversification of its areas of action.

"It means for the first time on the part of Sonangol the diversification of its business career because Sonangol ceases to act essentially what was its fundamental core of activity and starts to act within the energies that part of the Sonangol group's strategy of its transition energetic", said.

According to the Administrator, the project to generate 50 megawatts will enable the Angolan public company to save over US$20 million annually.

"It will allow Sonangol to have a cost reduction of over 20 million dollars/year and will also allow the province of Namibe to reduce its dependence on thermal electrical energy sources, which is the case of generator sets“, He stressed.
